About Maa Baglamukhi
Maa Baglamukhi is the eighth of the ten Mahavidyas (supreme tantric goddesses). The word "Bagla" is derived from the Sanskrit "Valga" meaning "bridle" — she who holds the reins of speech and destruction. She is depicted in yellow, seated on a golden throne, holding a golden club in her right hand and gripping the tongue of a demon with her left — a powerful symbol of stambhana (paralysis of evil).
According to the Devi Bhagavatam, she emerged from the waters of Haridra (turmeric) Lake during a great cosmic storm threatening to destroy all creation. Lord Vishnu performed tapas on the banks of this lake, and she manifested to still the storm and restore cosmic order.
Her worship is considered especially potent for victory in legal battles, protection from enemies, developing commanding speech, and dissolving black magic and negative energies. She is the embodiment of the power to paralyse, which, when wielded rightly, preserves dharma.
